The Truth about Dyslexia and things which all Parents should be aware of

Gone are the days when every family had numerous children where the parents hardly used to give proper care and attention to every child as the siblings themselves nourished and learnt from each other. But in the present generation presently believes in the concept of nuclear families. This results in more supervision of the children since birth.

But good parenting is a challenging task and that too in such an era where both the parents are seen working independently. From their busy schedule, taking out time for one’s child and providing them good upbringing is a difficult task to execute. Hence, many individuals as they hold that dignified position of being a parent for the very first time in their life have several questions which pop up in their minds.

The major one being is my child normal? By a normal child, we mean that is the concerned child able to recognise things properly, spell words, carry out healthy habits and so on.

There are many abnormal diseases that a child may become a victim of. One such problem is dyslexia. This a disorder in a child where he is unable to recognise objects, spell words, read properly and majorly gets to see the letters in a reversed order. The child also faces difficulty in solving mathematical problems.

According to surveys, 5-8% of the total child population is affected by this problem. The main consequence of this disorder is that it is generally not curable. It may last for years or can be lifelong. This is generally self-diagnosable. To be more precise, this condition is not due to lack of intelligence, brain damage, or mental retardation. After initiating excellent research work and a lot of surveys, it has been concluded that hereditary genes are mainly responsible for it.

There are a lot of disorders that the children have to suffer from at such a tender age. Nevertheless, hope and confidence is the key to success. There are many individuals who have suffered not only from dyslexia, but also from many other problems, yet they are dominating the corporate world and have emerged out as successful people due to their dedication, hard work, confidence in themselves and their family support. So thinking that is my child normal is not harmful as it helps you to be prepared in the long run.
